When Chocobo GP launches in a week it'll include a free to play version called Chocobo GP Lite. In this version you'll get some of the story mode, a small handful of characters, and eight player local/online multiplayer. On the plus side, progress will carry over to the main game which will be offered as a DLC add on. Chocobo GP will launch on the Nintendo Switch on March 10th.
